Ninety-two sixth graders and 10 adults (half parents, half teachers) left for Space Camp in Huntsville, AL at 7:45 in the morning on May 16, 2008 from the front of FSA on to very nice coach buses.  As good as that sounds, it just got better and better after that!

The first stop on the trip was the Tennessee Aquarium/IMAX complex.  Students saw a 3-D movie about saving the Colorado River and saw amazing views of the Grand Canyon from remarkable vantage points.  Students were treated to a penguin feeding at their very first stop in the aquarium.  The group spent most of the time in the Ocean Journey building.  After a whirlwind tour of the River Journey Building, they loaded up the buses and headed Space Camp.

After getting moved into the rooms we all met downstairs and were divided into three large groups who were assigned a Space Camp couselor.  Three extremely knowledgable and kid-friendly people took FSA students through all of the activities, exhibits and rides.  They even had some really fun outside games to play with the kids during the very small amount of down-time during the weekend.

The Space Shot ride (a straight up and down ride) and the G-Force ride (a round and round ride) seemed to be student favorites.  The gift shop was a close second.  The students were cooperative and engaged.  Everyone agreed that is was a great trip and that almost every minute had been packed with fun.

After a quik stop at McDonald's and Wendy's on Sunday, everyone loaded up one more time to return to FSA.  There were a lot of tired 6th graders, but true to form for these professional students, most of them were in school Monday morning!
