Principal's Corner

ksener.jpgDear Students and Parents,

I hope that you are all enjoying your summer time. I must tell you that I am having a great summer! I truly enjoyed the days I spent with our wonderful students both at the Summer Leadership Camp in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee and at the Turkish Language Summer Camp in Turkey.

I would like to inform you that we have a new Assistant Principal of Instruction and Curriculum at FSA. Mr. Murat Cetin, a former FSA Math teacher and a former Principal from our sister school, Sweet Water Branch Academy in Florida, has returned back to FSA. Under Mr. Cetin's leadership, Sweet Water Branch Academy was designated as a "Grade A" school in it's first year. I am confident that Mr. Cetin's success will continue at FSA. His e-mail address is This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it  should you need to contact him.

Our science department is currently holding a 15 day seminar to learn new techniques within our science curriculum. Next year's science classes will be even more fun.

I would like to remind you that the Orientation Day is on Thursday, August 6th and the New Student/Parent Welcome Picnic is on Saturday, August 15, 2009 between 12:30pm and 3:00pm. Please mark your calendars for these events.

I wish everyone a great rest of the summer.

Sincerely,

Principal Sener

2009-2010 Uniform Information

NEW LOGO
After 7 years, FSA decided to make a slight, yet noticeable update to our original logo.  See our new logo to the left--we've added 5 stars and more vibrant colors.   When purchasing a new shirt or jacket, this new logo will be the only logo sold.  The FSA logo is available at http://www.myartisticapparel.com/ and at Uniform Depot stores.

Garments having the pre-2009 logo CAN still be worn during the 2009-2010 school year and the FSA PVO Used Uniform Shop will continue to sell garments with the pre-2009 logo. Here are all the facts about FSA uniform requirements.

Summer Reading List/Requirement

summer_reading.jpgReading is the key to learning.  Our summer reading list is designed to help you spend some time with a good book this summer.  All students, grades 6-8 are being asked to read at least two books this summer.  Students should read the required book for their 2009-2010 grade level and one more book.  The second book can come from any list (any grade level). You can always read more!

All students are required to have two book report forms completed- one for your required grade level book and one for your book of choice.  Choose the grade level of the grade you will be entering in August 2009.  Book reports are due the first day back to school to your Language Arts Teacher.  Click here for the Book Report form or visit our website under 'FORMS' (http://fultonscience.org/forms).

Yearly Affidavit of Residency Due by August 10

affidavit.jpgATTENTION RISING 7TH AND 8TH GRADERS:  As per Georgia State Law, every year every student is required to submit an Affidavit of Residency form to their school.

Please complete and return the Affidavit of Residency form to FSA by the first day of school, Monday, August 10th, 2009.  You may mail the completed form to FSA (1675 Hembree Road Alpharetta, GA  30009) or drop it by the FSA front office.  Summer office hours are Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 2 PM.

For your convenience, a notary is available at no charge in the FSA front office.  If you have moved in the past year, the FSA notary will need two forms of proof of residency (see list of acceptable proofs on the bottom of the form).  You may also get the document notarized elsewhere.  Many banks and grocery stores provide notary services.  Your cooperation to help us be in compliance with Georgia State law is greatly appreciated.

Summer Leadership Camp was a Success!

pigeon_forge.jpg23 FSA students, including 14 boys and 9 girls from our rising 7th and 8th grades enjoyed FSA's first summer leadership camp in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee between July 6th and July 12th. All students read Sean Covey's "7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens" and attended book discussion and leadership discussions. Participation in these discussions was great. Principal Sener kicked off the camp for the first three days then made his way back to FSA.
Camp also included many fun activities such as trips to Dollywood, rafting, car racing, 4D movie theatre, river walk, summit view, city tour and more. A big "Thank You" goes to our volunteer teachers Mrs. Ozdemir, Mrs. Ekicikol, Mr. Turan and Mr. Bekaroglu. Mrs. Ekicikol and Mrs. Ozdemir cooked their delicious and famous meals for us. Soon we will have the summer leadership picture board on our school wall. We are very proud of our students. They were wonderful! We all enoyed our first Smoky Mountain cabin camp very much.

Students Enjoyed Three Weeks Turkish Language Summer Camp

turkey.jpg15 FSA students, including 13 boys and 2 girls attended our first Turkish Language Summer Camp in June and it was amazing. The first 10 days of the Camp was spent in small town called "Tavsanli" which is famous for it's ceramics and thermal waters.  The remaining days were spent on a tour around Turkey which included the cities of Istanbul, Izmir, Bursa and Antalya. We are very happy that we were able to offer this camp to our wonderful students. Soon we will have a video and a picture board ready for everyone to see this wonderful experience our students had.
